Skybox was developed to meet the rapid student population growth at the University of Oregon. Located in the emerging Arena District immediately east of the University, Skybox and its sister building, Courtside Apartments were the first urban style student housing projects in Eugene. The new district forged a new energy, a new vibrancy, a new destination, and puts Skybox & Courtside front and center of it all. The walkable location is just a block from campus - mere steps to classrooms, schools, and library. This pet-friendly student housing community includes all the modern amenities such as fitness center, game room, TV lounge, skydeck patio with bbq and fire pit, furnished communal areas, bike storage, rooftop gardens over the first-floor podium, covered parking, secure access, and study center. This facility also has an onsite cafe, retail space, & grocery store.
This six-story, 93,000 square-foot, 76-apartment facility provides 238 bedrooms and features an eco-roof and roof garden that filter and retains stormwater. The project achieved LEED Gold certification upon completion - the second multi-family housing project to receive the accreditation in Eugene.
The project had an aggressive schedule of 10 months. The fast-pace completion deadline meant solving problems in hours, not days. deChase beefed up the number of coordination meetings, constructability reviews, mock-ups, and pre-installation meetings to assure design intent, ease of construction, and ultimately deliver the project on schedule.
