deChase is joint venturing with SMR Development and Edlen & Co. on this workforce housing development five blocks west of downtown Boise. The project was awarded to the development team through a competitive RFP in February of 2021 by Boise’s urban renewal agency, Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC).
The project site is located in the vibrant West-Downtown Neighborhood and offers close proximity to all downtown Boise has to offer as well as employers and basic services. This is an ideal location for high-quality workforce housing. The project proposes a unique opportunity to expand affordable infill housing while re-developing vacant and underutilized sites in CCDC’s Urban Renewal District. Quality access to housing, coupled with transit, such as is found at 1715 Idaho enables residents to use more of their income for things such as healthcare, childcare, healthy food, and entertainment. This is the backbone of the local economy.
Similar to the highly successful Ash + River project which was also developed by deChase and Edlen, the 1715 Idaho project will provide an additional 48-units of workforce housing to downtown Boise renters. The project will include a diverse unit mix including 21 studios, 14 one-bedrooms, and 13 two-bedroom units.
The project was designed to blend the adjoining commercial corridor of downtown Boise to the east with the neighborhood of single-family homes to the west. Residents of the project are anticipated to be young families, young professionals, urban transplants, and empty nesters who desire to work, learn, and play within walking distance of their front door.
Construction is planned to commence in the early November 2021 and is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete for a Fall 2022 delivery.
